I have been without a specialist for a year now & it's not looking good for my healthplan to find one any time soon. I have POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and although there is no cure, if a new specialist can be found I may be able to live a better quality of life with meds or other therapies. The condition is debilitating because I can't stand longer then 15mins without my heartrate going over 150 & subsequently getting short of breath, dizzy, fatigued needing to sit down. Not only is it a hassel when I'm out somewhere but it keeps me from going out due to fact I know how its going to go.
The 1st specialist I had only did video appts, even after the scamdemic, & he tried me on 1 med to help heartrate but after 2 years, I said no more cause the side effect made me so sleepy I was in a worse position, not having any energy to get up or do things. This is exactly why I requested a new specialist & my HMO's been unable to locate one. I was able to finally push them to giving me a referral out of state to a specialist & just my luck- he left that facility & they had no plans on replacing him😔
I'm so frustrated with all this nonsense that I've come to a place where I don't believe I'll ever have a doctor, partly due to the specialty I require but More related to money, I have an HMO so that speaks for itself. I'm sure if I were rich & had a PPO, there would be plenty of doctors to accept me. Only good thing is I'm in my mid 50's & probably won't live too much longer, so problem solved🤷♀️😡.
I give up!
